Activity 1: Beginning, Middle, or End

Directions: All stories have a plot; the events that occur. A plot requires a beginning where the story idea is introduced, a middle where the events begin to build in suspense, and an end where the problem is solved.


Junie B. Jones is involved in many events surrounding her desire to be a beauty shop guy. Read the following events from the story. Determine whether they occurred in the beginning, the middle, or the end of the story. Cut out the events and sort them into the appropriate column in the chart.

Activity 2:  The Beauty Shop

Directions: Junie B. Jones visits the beauty shop on two different occasions. This is one of the settings of the story.  Setting is where the story takes place.


Try to visualize the setting of the beauty shop. What do you see? On the lines below, list six things you would find in a beauty shop. Then draw a picture of how you “see” the beauty shop. Try to include some of your listed items listed in the picture.
