Still Raising Awareness! Let’s Do an Ironman | 123Read&Write

As my students and I continue on the never ending quest to raise money and awareness for Rett’s Syndrome, the 2013-2014 year brought some wonderful memories. Below are some of the highlights:

  • First Annual Bowling for Retts
  • Jump for Retts

This special night had about 90 students show up at Airtime, in Troy to jump and roll the night away, in an effort to bring awareness to Rett’s Syndrome.

  • Competing in the Lake Placid Ironman

Well, I escaped Alcatraz last year, so why not try my first Ironman in honor of these girls. I happy to say that I indeed survived and came in at 15 hours to complete my first Ironman in honor of these beautiful girls!

In all, my students and I raised about $8,500 for the Girl Power 2 Cure Foundation this year! I couldn’t have done it without the their support, as well as the support of my loving family and the inspiration that the girls who suffer from this horrible affliction of autism. What will next year bring? Who knows, but I’m eyeing up another Ironman. Wait and see!
