In essence, a paragraph has three main components: a topic sentence, a body, and a closing sentence. A paragraph begins with a topic sentence, which tells what the paragraph is mainly about. The body of a paragraph gives the details about the topic sentence. Finally, the closing sentence brings the paragraph to an end.
