Inspirational Educational Blog | 123Read&Write

Educational blog of inspirational educational stories, educational advice, and relaxation methods to utilize in life and in the classroom.

While we as teachers gear up to return to school, as the summer days quickly dwindle, I've found myself thinking of many things in a different manner. It's no secret the profession of teaching has been a lonely one over the past years. Not from the children whom we love to guide, teach, and nurture; but outside stresses we can do little about.

In essence, this is the point of A Teacher's Guide to Making Lemonade. They're little strategies I've decided to utilize to get through the days at school when stresses reach epic levels; or if I see a colleague in need . . . these ideas can be helpful. Simply put, these strategies are relaxation methods, which seem to work for me. That's what many don't realize about being a teacher. When something goes wrong we can't disappear to the office water cooler and decompress. We're live on stage from the beginning bell until the end (and longer in many cases). We just need to remember to put on a good poker face and keep our toes tapping. Why? Because that's what our children need us to do . . . that's our job. Therefore, these strategies are as much for me as they are for you . . . my fellow teachers. I hope you can use one or more of these ideas to help you through any difficult situation you may encounter during your school day.

The strategies provided are derived from various experiences and from a couple exceptional authors, as well including: Stephen Covey (7 Habits of Highly Successful People) and Richard Carlson (Don't Sweat the Small Stuff). All strategies whether personal or inspired by Covey or Carlson have been adapted to fit the educator's experiences and life. I hope you can find something of use throughout the blog!
